Our story

Octave Acoustics is  a consultancy specialising in acoustics, noise and vibration. The company was founded in 2016 and operates from offices in Sydney and Melbourne. Octave Acoustics is a member of the peak body for acoustic consultants, the Association of Australasian Acoustical Consultants (AAAC).

We have a passion for delivering innovative and pragmatic solutions whilst drawing on the depth of our comprehensive expertise and specialist experience within the industry.

Commercial Offices

101 Moray

101 Moray incorporates seven levels of office and retail space with high end business and lifestyle amenities throughout. Tenant well-being was at the forefront of the planning and design strategy and this is reflective throughout every level. Octave Acoustics was engaged to provide comprehensive acoustic consultancy to the town planning, documentation and construction stages of this project.

Greystar BTR, South Melbourne

Octave Acoustics is excited to be providing acoustic consultancy to Greystar's South Yarra project. The project will deliver two towers atop a common podium and house approximately 625 build-to-rent apartments. Greystar has a focus on delivering exceptional lifestyle experiences for its residents. The project includes vibrant and innovative common amenities and facilities.
Environmental Acoustics

TfNSW Maritime Maintenance Program – NVIA

Octave Acoustics undertook a program‑wide Noise and Vibration Impact Assessment for the TfNSW Maritime Maintenance Program, covering over 120 wharves, jetties, pontoons and seawalls across NSW. The assessment established a consistent, regulator‑aligned framework to manage construction noise and vibration in highly sensitive urban and coastal environments, supporting ongoing maintenance activities while protecting community amenity.
Environmental Acoustics

Gosford Waterfront Revitalisation Masterplan

Octave Acoustics provided environmental noise investigations and assessment to support Central Coast Council’s Gosford Waterfront Revitalisation Master Plan. The study addressed a complex, mixed‑use waterfront precinct incorporating residential, commercial, cultural, transport and major event uses, and assessed noise impacts from traffic, rail, ferry operations, stadium events and commercial activity. Through detailed measurements, 3D noise modelling and close coordination with the project team, the assessment demonstrated how the Master Plan could be delivered in compliance with applicable environmental controls while supporting the long‑term activation of the Gosford Waterfront.

Greystar BTR, Zetland

Octave Acoustics is excited to be providing acoustic consultancy to Greystar’s new BTR project in Zetland. This new development will deliver 190 build-to-rent apartments across two seven level buildings. A key challenge on this project was the design of the Bourke Street and O’Dea Avenue facades to provide very high levels of traffic noise reduction whilst complying with the consent condition for provision of ventilation in accordance with City of Sydney’s Draft Alternative Natural Ventilation of Apartments in Noisy Environments: Performance Pathway Guideline.
Sport & Recreation

Carnegie Memorial Swimming Pool

Octave Acoustics was engaged to provide comprehensive acoustic consultancy services to the $75M redevelopment of the Carnegie Memorial Swimming Pool complex. A key focus for this project was the assessment and design of attenuation treatments for compliance with the applicable EPA noise criteria. Success in this process was achieved through close collaboration with project stakeholders including the project design team, the contractor, subcontractors, Council and local community.
Retirement Living

Bowden Brae Stage 2, Normanhust

Octave Acoustics delivered construction certificate and construction stage acoustic consultancy to Stage 2 at Uniting Bowden Brae for Taylor Construction. The project delivered 101 apartments over three buildings. We worked closely with Taylor Constructions to ensure that Uniting's exacting acoustic requirements were satisfied.
Performing Arts

St. Peter’s College - Stage 6B

Octave Acoustics worked closely with Hayball Architects in the design and delivery of the acoustic design for St. Peter’s College new performing arts centre. This exciting project included the delivery of a 450 seat theatre. Octave Acoustics modelled and finessed the room acoustics of the auditorium using EASE 3-D modelling software. Adjustments to both the room geometry and surface finishes were made to optimise the acoustic characteristics of the space to satisfy the School’s exacting requirements. Results of testing demonstrated that as-built performance was consistent with modelling and design expectations.
Hotel & Serviced Apartments

Oakwood, Southbank

Oakwood, Southbank in Melbourne is a 40-story luxe hotel. Octave Acoustics was engaged to provide comprehensive acoustic consultancy services to all stages of the project. A particular point of interest in our design is the floating acoustic slab installed throughout level 39. This slab protects guest rooms below from significant floor impact and airborne noise generated by the bar and restaurant above.
Environmental Acoustics

Wine Machine Music Festival

Octave Acoustics is engaged by Rochford Wines to provide music noise monitoring for its regular live music events in the Yarra Valley. The task involves remote noise monitoring at surrounding noise sensitive receivers whilst accounting for variation in noise propagation associated with atmospheric conditions.

Melbourne Metro Early Works

The $10.9 billion Metro Tunnel will deliver twin nine-kilometre tunnels and five new underground stations at Arden, Parkville, CBD North, CBD South and Domain, creating a new dedicated pathway through the city for two of Melbourne’s busiest rail lines. Octave Acoustics was engaged by John Holland as independent peer noise reviewer for the Metro Tunnel Early Works, the first package of works.
Mixed Use Development

The Malt District

Octave Acoustics has been engaged by Caydon Property to deliver acoustic consultancy to this complex project. Our scope for the site has included town planning assessments and reports, provision of expert evidence, development of design documentation, construction stage services and post construction verification testing.
Hotel & Serviced Apartments

Hyatt Centric Melbourne

Octave Acoustics was engaged by Little Projects and Hickory to provide comprehensive acoustic consultancy to the documentation and construction of the new Hyatt Centric Hotel in the CBD of Melbourne. The project involved the delivery of 277 guestrooms, ball rooms, an indoor pool, gym, spa and other guest amenities over 25 levels.
