Hyatt Centric

Octave Acoustics was engaged by Little Projects and Hickory to provide comprehensive acoustic consultancy to the documentation and construction of the new Hyatt Centric Hotel in the CBD of Melbourne. The project included 277 guestrooms, ball rooms, an indoor pool, gym, spa and other guest amenities over 25 levels.

A particular challenge of the project as the need to ensure that no noise from the vibrant restaurant and bar on level 25 could be heard within the premium hotel rooms immediately below (particularly foot fall on the stone floor installed throughout level 25). Octave Acoustics addressed this problem by designing an acoustic slab floating atop of the structural slab on level 25. This required careful coordination with the project team and contractors to ensure that all flanking paths (such as the curtain wall) were accounted for and correctly addressed. Testing on completion of construction demonstrated a successful outcome, further evidenced by subsequent guest feedback.
