Carnegie Memorial Swimming Pool

Octave Acoustics was engaged to provide comprehensive acoustic consultancy services to the design and redevelopment of the Carnegie Memorial Swimming Pool complex. The $75M project involved the redevelopment and renewal of the existing facility to deliver:

• A new heated outdoor 50-metre pool.
• An outdoor water play area.
• Separate diving pool with 1m and 3m springboard.
• Indoor warm water program pool and 25m learn-to-swim pool with moveable floor.
• Spa, sauna, and steam room for relaxation.
• Accessible change facilities and community spaces for all ages and abilities.
• Indoor Program rooms for fitness classes.

The new facility is all-electric, generates power from a 240KVA solar array, and is nestled into native landscaping designed to increase local biodiversity.

Due to the proximity of existing dwellings, a key focus of Octave Acoustics for this project was the assessment and design of attenuation treatments for compliance with the applicable EPA noise criteria. Success in this process was achieved through close collaboration with project stakeholders including the project design team, the contractor, subcontractors, Council and local community.

Under the guidance of Co-op Studio, the project achieved a Green Star design score of 85 points, well above the 70 point minimum required for a 6-Star rating.
