Nylex Malting Site

Overlooking the Yarra River, The Malt District is home to Melbourne’s iconic silos and Nylex Clock. As part of a significant urban rejuvenation project, this former maltings site is being transformed into a vibrant residential and cultural destination in the heart of Melbourne’s arts, entertainment and sports precinct.

Octave Acoustics has been engaged by Caydon Property to deliver acoustic consultancy to this complex project. Our scope for the site has included town planning assessments and reports, provision of expert evidence, development of design documentation, construction stage services and post construction verification testing.

Central challenges associated with the project have included:

1. Consideration and management of noise associated with the operation of onsite food and beverage tenancies potentially affecting both on and offsite dwellings.
2. Treatment of building envelopes to deliver targeted amenity and Green Star outcome despite the proximity of the Monash Freeway.
3. Development of robust design details within the context of existing heritage buildings.
