Octave Acoustics provided comprehensive acoustic consultancy services for the new Clyde North Police Station, a major state government facility delivering a 24‑hour operational policing hub in Melbourne’s south‑east growth corridor. The project accommodates up to 400 staff and incorporates a wide range of operational, public, custodial and support spaces with stringent acoustic and security requirements.

Our engagement included detailed site noise investigations, acoustic design advice across all stages of the project, and preparation of a full acoustic specification to support detailed design and construction. The works were undertaken in accordance with the Victoria Police Police Station Design Guidelines, relevant Australian Standards, and Environment Protection Regulations.

Key acoustic considerations included achieving high levels of speech privacy between sensitive spaces such as interview rooms, custodial areas and offices; control of internal noise levels from building services; mitigation of road traffic noise intrusion; management of environmental noise emissions from rooftop and external plant; and vibration isolation of mechanical and hydraulic services. Particular attention was given to coordination of acoustic requirements with architectural, mechanical and security documentation to ensure buildable and compliant outcomes.

Octave Acoustics also developed detailed performance requirements for walls, floors, doors, glazing, ceilings and service penetrations, as well as specialist treatments for gyms, lifts and rooftop plant. Environmental noise modelling and assessment were undertaken to demonstrate compliance with EPA requirements at nearby sensitive receivers.
