Bundha Sports Centre

Octave Acoustics was engaged to provide comprehensive acoustic consultancy services to the design and construction of the $54M Bundha Sports Centre. Bundha Sports Centre is Australia’s first multi-level community indoor court facility, offering sports and recreation opportunities for people of all ages and skill levels in Melbourne’s inner north.

The Centre features a multi-purpose futsal court at ground level, alongside a welcoming entry, community lounge, café, and multi-purpose space, with a mezzanine level above the foyer housing a 24-hour gym and change facilities. The two upper levels each contain two multi-purpose courts for community basketball, netball, and volleyball, as well as social-level badminton.

In relation to acoustics, a unique consideration was design for control of structure-borne noise transfer between the vertically stacked sports court floors. Detailed analysis was also carried out in the design of mechanical attenuation treatments for compliance with EPA noise criteria at the adjacent Wurun Senior Campus school.
