Lisa Bellear House

Octave Acoustics was engaged by Hayball Architects to provide acoustic consultancy for the planning, documentation and construction stages of this student accommodation project. The project involved the redevelopment of a 1960s hotel. A key value management initiative involved preconstruction acoustic testing of the base building to avoid overdesign of floor / ceiling systems. An interesting feature of the project is the cluster style accommodation which results in a more intimate, community focussed living environment. Hayball and Octave Acoustics worked closely to develop a Performance Solution to demonstrate that the ‘living cluster’ solution complied with the Building Code of Australia (BCA) / National Construction Code (NCC).
